So technically, yes the 8100 Vortec motor came with the Allison transmission. What that means is that you had to pay extra to have that transmission installed in your truck. The Allison 1000 series was also used for many trucks and SUVs but it was an optional transmission. The ZF-6 was the standard transmission used and it did not cost you anything extra to have it in your vehicle. From 2001 to 2007 you had a choice of 2 transmission options.
